Stormwater management is broadly broken down into the following two categories: (1) flood protection and (2) pollution control. Flood protection pertains to controlling stormwater volume whereas pollution control focusses on controlling contaminated water. Many states are adopting “Green Infrastructure” regulations where stormwater runoff is infiltrated or treated by vegetation or soil.
