A ‘peer city’ framework to support inter-city knowledge transfer on climate adaptation: Cities face significant climate-driven risks under climate change. Given the limited resources available to address such challenges, effective knowledge transfer and collaboration between cities is crucial. In this study, we propose a framework and present a methodology to support knowledge sharing between cities, by identifying ‘peer’ cities with strong similarity in local characteristics relevant to the problem at hand. Presented by Joyce Yang, PhD Candidate (Advisor Lei Zhao)

Stress-based topology optimization for stiff and strong fiber composites integrating anisotropic and isotropic materials: Fiber-reinforced materials offer high stiffness- and strength-to-mass ratios to lightweight composite structures. To design stiff, strong, and lightweight fiber-reinforced composite structures, we propose a multimaterial anisotropic stress-constrained topology optimization framework that simultaneously optimizes geometry, distribution of anisotropic (i.e., orthotropic) and isotropic material phases, and local orientations of fiber reinforcements in the anisotropic phase.
