Community-engaged research is most meaningful when community members are not only participants but true partners. Building equitable partnerships within the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process, however, involves practical decisions that aren’t always straightforward.
This panel brings together three speakers who see the IRB process from different vantage points. Each will share how they approach collaborative research in their role, what they wish others understood about it, and the strategies that help academic and community partners move through IRB review as a team.
Attendees will leave with practical tips for structuring collaboration, preparing community partners for their role in the process, and obtaining meaningful, ethical consent._
