Title: “Dense nuclear, neutron stars, and the MUSES framework”
Abstract: In this talk I will discuss the properties of dense nuclear matter and their relation to neutron stars. Nuclear matter goes through a large range of densities inside neutron star interiors, spanning different phases of matter. Building a unified model across this density range is challenging, and one typically resorts to combining different models for different regions of the star. To address these challenges, the MUSES collaboration has built an open-source modular framework for nuclear theory, neutron star, and heavy-ion physics, designed to host and connect different nuclear models and link them to observable data. I will discuss the main ideas behind MUSES and highlight our recent work showing how systematic uncertainties are introduced by connecting different models for describing neutron stars.
