Overview
The Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium Grand Rounds are monthly educational events hosted by member institutions for faculty investigators, scientists, fellows, residents, medical students, and clinical research staff. The goal is to expand awareness, dialogue, and opportunities for collaboration.
May's event will feature Cancer Center at Illinois members Timothy Fan and Viktor Gruev, who will explore advances in imaging technologies and immunotherapeutic strategies for improving cancer detection and therapy. Attendees must register. The Cancer Center at Illinois communications team will email Zoom meeting information the day before the event.

"Evaluation of Intratumoral Anchored Cytokine Therapies in Naturally Occurring and Immunocompetent Canine Models"
Anchored cytokine strategies hold the promise to improve local and abscopal control of cancer through immune activation, and, through the inclusion of pet dogs with naturally occurring cancers, it is possible to generate high-value biologic data to support advancement of similar technologies towards human Phase 1 clinical trials.

"Bioinspired Imaging Sensors for Image-Guided Cancer Surgery with NIR Molecular Probes"
Viktor Gruev is developing multispectral imaging instruments for imaging tumors and positive lymph nodes. The information recorded by these specialized cameras is displayed on wearable goggles that surgeons can use during intraoperative procedures.
