College of Education Events

This campuswide panel is being organized by the College of Education to discuss recent progress in ChatGPT, its impact on research, and particularly how it impacts the research of teaching and learning (all levels, including K-12, higher education, and adult education).

While research and implementation of specialized AI applications has now been visible over a period of years, the advent of multi-purpose AI tools, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Bard, and similar tools, has radically shifted conversation and developments over the past six months. The popular media carries many stories and anecdotes about how this may impact practice in various domains. At the same time, discussion in the academic sphere has yet to coalesce. The aim of this discussion will be to consider the impact of multi-purpose AI on research and teaching and what we must consider as we continue to study teaching and learning in response to current developments.
