Topic: NCHRP IDEA Program for Innovations in Highway Infrastructure

Abstract: The NCHRP IDEA program is a special program of the National Cooperative Research Program of the Transportation Research Board. The program seeks innovative high risk, high payoff concepts and provides funding to innovators to prove their feasibility for highway infrastructure applications. This presentation provides a brief background on the IDEA program, what it is looking for, how it operates, and how it promotes innovations in highway infrastructure practice. A few examples of IDEA products that have been successfully implemented or made to the marketplace are also provided.
Bio: Dr. Inam Jawed is the Program Manager of the Transportation Research Board’s Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis (IDEA) Program. The IDEA Program funds innovative, high- risk/high payoff concepts with potential to significantly advance the state of transportation practice.
