The Cancer Center at Illinois presents its Fall Faculty Seminar Series featuring external guest speakers and cancer-focused researchers at the University of Illinois. One - two individuals present on their area of expertise, followed by a Q & A. These online seminars are free and open to the public.

Seminar Title: Physical activity during cancer survivorship: Expanding our reach for public health


Seminar Abstract: This talk will highlight the unique health challenges of accelerated aging after cancer and how physical activity may be leveraged to improve functional health during survivorship. Dr. Salerno will discuss her work examining the relationships between physical activity and functional outcomes as well as how these findings inform the broad implementation of physical activity programs. This talk will span behavioral science, kinesiology, and epidemiology to emphasize the importance of expanding our reach beyond clinical and university settings for sustained health after cancer.
