Learn how to identify native forest trees of Illinois at Arboretum Tree ID Hikes at the Illinois Arboretum (1800 S. Lincoln Ave., Urbana). Meet in the Arboretum Parking Lot*.

-Tuesday, September 22 from 12-2 p.m.
-Saturday, October 10 from 9-11 a.m.Natural Areas Manager Nate Beccue will share identification characteristics including leaf types and arrangements, bark patterns, fruit, growth form, and other distinguishing features used to identify trees throughout the year. In addition to tree ID, students will learn about the ecological importance of native tree species and explore their historical and modern uses. Topics will include the use of native trees in lumber and other wood products, as well as culinary uses of tree fruits, nuts, sap, and other edible resources.
$10/person. Register here. Registration will close 1 day prior to hike. All sales are final.
