Join us for an inspiring 2-day celebration of innovation, research, and entrepreneurship at this year's Entrepreneur Days, where we shine a spotlight on the transformative work of entrepreneurs and those dedicated to the study of entrepreneurship. Under the compelling theme "practice makes scholarship," this event promises insightful talks, engaging discussions, and invaluable networking opportunities.

  • November 1st: Discovering Opportunities in the Cannabis Industry

On November 1st, at 4 pm, in a captivating session, Associate Professor Justin Leiby will unravel the groundbreaking research conducted at the Cannabis Research Institute (CRI) via the Discovery Partners Institute. Focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion, CRI serves as an entry point into the cannabis industry for people of color. Professor Leiby will delve into CRI's initiatives, which include research opportunities, best practices sharing, internships, and collaborations with historically Black colleges and universities. The session will feature an insightful talk followed by a dynamic Q & A session and light refreshments.

  •  November 8th: Nurturing Entrepreneurship within the University

Continuing the entrepreneurial journey on November 8th, from 5 pm to 6:30 pm, Dr. Gerald Wilson, (Grainger PhD '07, Gies MBA '13), the newly appointed Director of Entrepreneurship at the Research Park, will shed light on the thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem within the University of Illinois. Dr. Wilson's talk will explore the multitude of opportunities available for supporting entrepreneurship within the university setting. Following this, William Langston, a dedicated PhD student at the iSchool, will present his pioneering research on the intersection of digital innovation and economic development. Langston's work is centered on solution-based expertise, focusing on workforce and tech-talent development, new venture creation, and urban planning. The evening will conclude with an interactive Q & A session, providing attendees with the chance to engage with the speakers, followed by light refreshments.

Come, be inspired, and learn how the fusion of practice and scholarship is shaping the future of innovation. See you there!
