Prof. Morris Moscovitch, University of Toronto, will lecture "Hippocampal–neocortical interactions: From episodic memory to gist to schemas and back."
Memory reorganization at the neural level goes hand in hand with memory reorganization at the psychological level. I will provide evidence for this principle from behavioural, neuroimaging and lesion studies on memory encoding retention and retrieval. I will then consider the influence of episodic memories and schemas on problem solving, personality and social interaction.
