"Reflect on what you're learning" is a hopeful but difficult prompt for students and instructors. In this workshop, two scholars and instructors from the clinical-community psychology department will introduce a simple framework for engaging in reflection assignments and broader reflexive practice, playfully called “SpORE" (Specific Observation, Reaction, Expansion).

This adaptable framework provides tangible starting guidance for entry-level reflexive practice. It is also a lot of fun! We will provide a variety of sample “spores,” help you create your own spore, and practice grading these reflexive practice assignments in a way that is both thoughtful and efficient. We will highlight common challenges with reflexive practice, centering neurodiverse learners and the application of cultural humility, and the integration of research and practice in reflection assignments. Please join us!

This project is part of one graduate student’s efforts in the Teacher Scholar certificate, and we would appreciate your engagement and feedback. Come for the reflection/reflexive practice guidance; stay for the science fiction and mushroom puns. It will be in-SpORE-rational.

This workshop will be held via Zoom. Register to receive a link to the workshop.

This workshop counts towards the Graduate Teacher Certificate or the Certificate in Foundations of Teaching.
