Abstract: A degree in physics opens the door to many unique jobs in industry. Many of these jobs will have little to no direct relevance to the research that you conducted during your time at UIUC. The focus of my seminar will be what soft skills I believe are valuable to companies like Apple and other big tech companies. I will also introduce the world of displays and what my experience has been like to work in big tech.
Bio: Man-Hong is a Hardware Development Engineer at Apple, where he works on display technologies. Before joining Apple, he worked as a Product Engineer at Lam Research, working on developing next generation semiconductor fabrication equipment. Man-Hong received his Ph.D in 2017 at UIUC in Tai-Chang Chiang’s experimental condensed matter group. He researched the growth and characterization of topological insulator heterostructures.
