SE290 - John Thorse

John is a skier and hiker living in the mountains of Colorado with his wife while continuously exploring, doing, and learning each day. John retired as of August 2024 from the technology industry after 180 quarters (45 years), including most recently with Dell Technologies for 101 quarters (25 plus years) as of August 2024. John graduated with a BSIE from the University of Illinois (1979), MBA from the Arizona State University (1982), and most recently a certificate in Sustainability from Colorado Mountain College (2022). 

While at the University of Illinois (5 years), John was a Co-op student working at Johnson & Johnson in Chicago every other term and an active brother in-house at Triangle Fraternity. After graduation, John served in Program & Project Management roles (8 years) and Sales & Marketing roles (12 years) prior to joining Dell Technologies (1999). John as a Program & Project Management professional (PMI – PMP certified since 2005) continues to embrace and use AI weekly. 

John and his wife have relocated to seven different cities across the USA (Phoenix, Denver, Boston, Los Angeles, Portland, Austin, Eagle) as desire and work required during their marriage (1983). John knows Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior. John and his wife have one son, a BSME graduate from the University of Colorado in his mid-thirties serving as a Major and a pilot with the USAF (2013). Recently, his son and wonderful daughter-in-law informed him of a granddaughter expected in February 2027. John welcomes conversations with young adults, including most recently this past April, as a guest speaker at the Illini Triangle Fraternity chapter.
