Jim is a 1997 General Engineering graduate with a secondary field of Engineering Administration. His primary career focus has been on product management and software development across the investment management, security, and music industries. His exposure to software development and optimization led him to further pursue studies in computer science, eventually earning his doctorate from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2011 in the field of artificial intelligence.
As Vice President and Head of Engineering at SoundExchange, he manages all software development teams and defines the architecture for a music royalty distribution platform. His key accomplishments include development of a publishing royalty platform and leading the cultural shift to a product development focused team.
His career has focused on themes of model development and statistical analysis including 20 years in investment management. His engineering background in mathematics and data visualization were essential to building software for analyzing investment performance and risk. His problem solving skills and understanding of the models proved valuable in client servicing and sales where he helped grow the business globally with clients in Europe, China, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, among others.
Jim lives in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and has two sons with his wife Denise. He has spent his time outside of the office active in the community having coached baseball and basketball and served on local school district committees. His sons are both in college with one a Finance major at Indiana University Bloomington and the other a Computer Science major at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
