With over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry and project management, Ms. Karr has extensive experience in delivering critical projects on time, within budget with the intended results. Ms. Karr’s ability to integrate with and collaborate with multiple departments and help them come to consensus to deliver system-wide solutions is a key to her project success. Her project management approach, ability to build relationships and strong internal project teams, and delivery of solid outcomes has resulted in long term relationships with her clients.
Ms. Karr’s areas of expertise include:
- Offsite reprocessing center strategy, feasibility study and business case development, and execution of recommendations
- Business process assessment and redesign within Supply Chain, Perioperative Services and Sterile Processing operations
- Project design and implementation (any area of operation)
- Project and program management
Her projects have focused on conducting and evaluating current state operational assessments, defining potential future state designs, and outlining and implementing recommendations in the areas of organization, communication, process, technology integration and cost saving opportunities. Ms. Karr has project-managed numerous projects involving hospital logistics, perioperative services operations, sterile processing operations, organizational restructuring and IT business product implementations.
Previously, Ms. Karr was Managing Director at HealthCare Logistics Services (HLS), a national supply chain consulting and management services firm acquired by Owens & Minor in October 2004. During her time with HLS & Owens & Minor, she acted as the Engagement Director and Project Manager on numerous Supply Chain projects.
Prior to HLS, Ms. Karr was Director of Integration at the Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX), a b2b eCommerce company responsible for streamlining and driving supply chain efficiency through eProcurement technology and business process redesign. During her tenure at GHX, Ms. Karr was responsible for developing and managing the organization that integrated hospitals, suppliers and distributors together through GHX’s eProcurement system.
Prior to GHX, she held the position of Manager Health Provider Supply Chain Consulting at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young where she was the project manager for the assessment, design and implementation planning phases of HCA’s system-wide supply chain transformation initiative. She also held the positions of Project Manager, Manager Distribution Operations, Worldwide Demand Management Specialist (product need forecasting) and Manufacturing Supervisor for Abbott Laboratories.
Ms. Karr graduated from the University of Illinois with an Industrial Engineering degree with a minor in German and lived abroad for 2.5 years while working for Abbott Laboratories.
