John Marchelya is a Portfolio Manager at Guggenheim Investments where he is responsible for the conceptual development and daily execution of the Guggenheim Managed Futures fund.
The fund utilizes a quantitative, systematic approach that combines ideas from statistics, optimization, and financial and market theory in a machine learning framework to trade futures on commodities, currencies, bonds, and global stock indexes.
John holds a PhD in Operations Research from Johns Hopkins University, a Master’s degree in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford, and a BS in General Engineering from the University of Illinois.
John was born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago, especially Glen Ellyn, and currently lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
John graduated from Illinois in 1990 and has remained a big Illini fan over the years. He is also, by extension, a fan of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where his son is currently a junior in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
