This webinar will discuss a case study involving damage to a 40 mil linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) geomembrane (GM) installed in a below ground impoundment at a natural gas well site. Numerous defects were found in the LLDPE GM, including holes, scratches, indentations, and linear tears or slits, after the impoundment was drained. The GM defects allowed leakage from the pond, which eventually was detected in nearby groundwater monitoring wells. An investigation of the GM, subgrade conditions, and pond operations was conducted to determine the cause and timing of the GM defects. This webinar will present the results of the investigation and the most likely causes of the GM damage. 1.0 PDH
