Abstract: This presentation will explore a dual function of topology. Firstly, in the realm of quantum entanglement with two qubits, topology allows for the classification of physical systems that can undergo entanglement. Secondly, it facilitates the creation of specific topological qubits within condensed matter systems.

The intrinsic topology of entangled two-qubit states manifests itself through a geometric phase that distinguishes between different quantum gates. This feature makes it possible to engineer specialized, optimized quantum gates by appropriately choosing distinct Hamiltonians.

Topology also enables the creation of topological quantum states with specific physical characteristics, e.g. a long-range spatial decay and an unscreened fractional charge, detectable through local imaging techniques like STM. 

Based on a topological version of the Anderson model for local magnetic moments, we will present the case of a many-body topological molecule capable of sustaining either spin- or orbital-entangled states.
