- Additively manufactured (AM) metals exhibit various defects and heterogeneous microstructures, resulting from the selective melting and rapid thermal cycling inherent to the process. This talk demonstrates how AM printing parameters can introduce the interplay of grain refinement and defects, ultimately controlling the material’s mechanical properties.
