Abstract:
 
Building codes understand the destructive nature of fire and accommodate it in initial design. What happens after one of these events occurs? How do you evaluate the structure to determine if any damage occurred? Does the damage require removal, repair, or is it just cosmetic? This talk will run through a typical fire damage assessment and repair using case studies of various projects focusing primarily on reinforced concrete. While each event is unique, the process is similar and will be discussed broadly.

Bio:
Ray is a Principal in Walter P Moore Diagnostics with more than 30 years of experience in structural and enclosure forensic engineering. His expertise includes fire damage analysis, flood mitigation design, facade and below-grade waterproofing performance, and the assessment and repair of distresses within steel and concrete structures. 

Ray leads the firm’s practice for creating resiliency in facility owners’ assets. He has led multidisciplinary teams to provide resilient facilities in hurricane-prone regions of the country for both high-wind and flooding events. Ray enjoys working directly with clients to ensure every problem is solved accurately and efficiently. He often performs structural due diligence surveys for potential owners and property managers.
