Physics - Saturday Physics for Everyone

From the ancient Greeks’ description of astronomy as the “music of the spheres”, to the theory of acoustics developed by Helmholtz alongside his work in thermodynamics, physics and music have been intertwined for centuries. I will give a friendly and accessible introduction to how physics can help us think about and appreciate music, including some demonstrations on the horn and related instruments. I will also talk about how my training as both a physicist and a classical musician has shaped the way I think about both physics and music.
