Abstract: Working at a quantum computing start-up Quantum computing is a developing industry with many interesting opportunities for physicists. In this talk, I will give an overview of what it’s like to do research at a quantum computing company and focus on my own experiences at Rigetti and how they compare with grad school. I will also briefly go over what the job hunting process was like for me.
Bio: Angela Chen received her PhD in physics from UIUC in 2019. She studied the superconducting states of proximity-coupled topological insulators and their reaction to magnetic fields under the supervision of Nadya Mason. After defending, she returned to her home state to work as a quantum engineer at Rigetti Computing in Berkeley, California.
