This seminar will cover the history of the wild pig problem in the US, especially the southern states. Dr. Mengak will review basic pig biology that contributes to the current problems and discuss previous stakeholder surveys and estimates of economic impacts. He will review current hunting culture and state laws as they relate to population control, plus review control/management strategies and their application and efficacy. Discussion will include pig populations and management efforts in Illinois.
