Illinois author Melanie Holmes will make an appearance at Allerton at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3 to discuss her new book, “100 Things to Do in Illinois Before you Die,” hot off the press from Reedy Publishing’s line of bucket list books.
The presentation will be held in the Mansion Library.
Think you’ve seen all of the best parts of Illinois? What about the white bison? Have you ever slept in a caboose or a treehouse? How about some whitewater rafting or a hot air balloon ride? Illinois is a beautiful blend of rolling cornfields, a “driftless” zone perfect for downhill skiing, and a national forest that spreads from River to Shining River.
Come and listen as Holmes shares some of the funniest adventure stories and clues you into the tips for seeing, eating, and absorbing the best of this culturally-crucial, entertaining state. Illinois! Allerton Park also gets a mention as one of the places in Illinois everyone should see!
The event is free, but registration is required as seating will be limited. Register here.
“100 Things to Do in Illinois Before you Die” is Holmes’ fifth book. Her previous works include” The Female Assumption” (2014 Global Media Award Recipient, best book category); “A Hero on Mount St. Helens” (2019, University of Illinois Press); “Manteno/Images of America” (2020, Arcadia Publishing) and “The Secret Life of Postcards” (2021).
