Join a local artist and art educator from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 8 in the Greenhouse Auditorium as she walks you through how to create an Intaglio print. Traditionally involving an acid bath, oil-based inks and solvents, participants will instead learn how to use all non-toxic and fumeless materials to accomplish the same result.

This method of printmaking emphasizes lines to create a piece much link a pen and ink drawing. No prior drawing or printmaking experience is needed, but some hand strength is required to operate the press.

All participants will go home with at least one 5×7 inch print but may create more as time allows. Participants are welcome to bring pictures or drawing ideas for inspiration.

The cost is $50, which covers most of the materials needed. Participants are asked to bring a lint-free rag or old T-shirt that will not be missed (which will be used to wipe the ink off the printing plate and will be ruined); and an old towel (to blot the damp paper before printing).

Register here.

Since this is an all-day event, please bring a sack lunch. A refrigerator will be available. Those taking part should also wear old clothes, as the ink used will stain fabric.
