So, you want to do undergraduate research? Great! Research is a great way to determine if you want to pursue a field further, learn more about an interesting topic, and gain critical science and communication skills. But beneath the surface, it’s difficult to navigate the hidden realities: How much progress are you making? How do you ask for help? How do you determine what you need to accomplish?
In this talk, I will discuss my personal experimental research experiences at Illinois, EPFL, and MIT as a framework for approaching undergraduate research. Rather than just finding research, we will discuss how to find purposeful project, learning to self-advocate in difficult situations, and developing critical problem-solving skills. This talk is welcome to everyone, no matter where you are in your research journey!
