Come to this workshop to creatively explore some ways to get started on your teaching philosophy or teaching statement! Crafting these statements can feel daunting, especially if you’re interested in applying for different kinds of teaching jobs. It’s also important to make sure that you shine through the requirements and information that you include.

In this workshop, we’ll use group discussion and some short journaling exercises to start generating material that you might use as you craft your different statements. The idea is to explore both your philosophical identity as a teacher and to connect facets of that identity to concrete examples that will be useful to your statements.

You may attend this workshop as a stand-alone or as a companion workshop to “Developing Your Teaching Philosophy for a Faculty Job Search” (10/9/23).

This workshop counts towards the Graduate Teacher Certificate or the Certificate in Foundations of Teaching.
