The workshop, The Body in Extremis: Fascism, Health, and the Autoimmune State, examines how authoritarian politics emerge not only through moments of rupture and overt violence, but also through normalized practices of care, protection, and governance. Using autoimmunity as an analytical frame, the workshop explores how political projects that present themselves as safeguarding life often reconfigure sovereignty, belonging, and legitimacy through exclusionary logics.
