Dr. Maritza Paredes, Sociology Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, will discuss the complexities of extractive frontier expansion and its intersection with global climate change policies in conservation areas, particularly within indigenous communities. Her research explores the redistributive and justice dimensions of these processes, shedding light on collective action and social mobilization.

About the Speaker: Dr. Paredes holds a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford and an M.A. from Columbia University. Her work critically examines illegal economies, environmental policies, and indigenous land struggles.
