The European Union Center’s 2024 summer curriculum workshop, “Understanding Contemporary Europe: Spotlighting the Peripheries,” will be held on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus on July 9-12. This year’s workshop will focus on Europe’s peripheries, broadly defined to include both geographical and social peripheries. Sessions will cover geopolitical challenges facing the EU, minority and endangered languages, the Roma in Europe, contemporary film, youth movements, and much more. The priority application deadline is May 31; the regular application deadline is June 21.

There is a nonrefundable $125 workshop fee associated with the workshop. Those who apply by May 31 and submit a lesson plan incorporating content from the workshop by August 5 will receive a $100 travel reimbursement. On-campus housing, parking, and most meals are covered.
