While communication and control engineering, neurophysiology, statistical mechanics, and digital computing are recognized for their impact on cybernetics, political economy’s influence is scarcely known. Professor Jefferson traces the role of political economy in the cybernetic description of information to stimulate discussion about socially viable modes of producing, circulating, and consuming information.
