A stateless state ruled by ‘mad-dog’ Qaddafi: this is how Libya has been presented to the American public. The past’s legacy has been activated to explain Libya after NATO’s 2011 bombing campaign & the descension into political violence by militias. Are there other narratives to this? Dr. Capasso will discuss his new book by challenging these narratives & providing oral histories of people’s lives with connection to global politics & economy.
