Conductor Tianhui Ng and Professor Michael Silvers (Musicology) will engage in conversation about intercultural exploration through many musical genres. Topics range from opera and civil rights, to Yoruba opera in New England, to language restoration and Chickasaw opera. In particular, they will discuss Maestro Ng's work with the Victory Players and the Puerto Rican community in the Connecticut River Valley.

This MillerComm talk will be followed at 4pm by a performance at Smith Recital Hall by the Victory Players. These are the culminating events in the weeklong Encuentro Puertorriqueño de Creación Musical, March 30-April 2.
