Multilingualism is increasingly a feature of international organizations where consequential political decisions are negotiated between politicians who negotiate on a few commonly shared, non-native language. This lecture by Nils Ringe (Professor of Political Science, UW-Madison) shows how the European Union illustrates the way politicians’ reliance on shared foreign languages and translation services, predominantly English and French, affects politics and policymaking. https://tinyurl.com/4yvfff4x
