"Interrogating cortical circuit function: abnormal sensory processing and plasticity in a mouse model of the MECP2-duplication syndrome"

Research:
Smirnakis lab studies principles of neural circuit function and malfunction during disease states. We focus on visual perception, as well as on circuit abnormalities that manifest in autism, epilepsy and stroke. Tools we employ range from 2-photon imaging and optogenetics to classical electrophysiology and functional magnetic resonance imaging.
