Title: "From Item Response Theory to Generalized Diagnostic Classification Modeling in Computerized Adaptive Testing and Other
Applications”.
Abstract: After a brief review of the seminal work on item response theory (IRT) by the Danish statistician Georg Rasch (1901-1980) and related works by him and others on latent variable modeling, we describe post-1980s extensions to diagnostic classification modeling (DCM) at UIUC pioneered by Professor William
Stout and his collaborators and former students. We also describe other applications of IRT to ant foraging studies and recent advances in Markov chain Monte Carlo for joint state and parameter estimation, which can greatly facilitate the implementation of DCM.
