This workshop will focus on the publishing process for both peer reviewed journal articles (1st hour) and first books (2nd hour). It will be conversational in tone and offer a friendly space to ask nuts and bolts questions about publishing, like how to revise and resubmit, how to cold email an editor, and so on. You can pre-submit questions or request at this Google doc.

We are fortunate to bring in Mark Simpson-Vos, editorial director and head of acquisitions of UNC Press, who will speak from his long experience working with authors at all stages of the book publishing process. The workshop will also feature Jennifer Kelly, an assistant professor of feminist studies at UCSC, who will speak from the author's perspective. She examines justice tourism in Palestine and has worked through the long process of getting articles published, particularly given the extra challenges of her topic. Her first book is under contract with Duke UP. Contact anpaik@illinois.edu with questions or concerns.
