Humanities Without Walls (HWW) has designed an internship program in which UIUC humanities PhD students can make an impact in their community while learning new skills and exploring new career paths. Led by Assistant Dean for Career & Professional Development in the Graduate College, Derek Attig, this information session for potential applicants to the HWW Summer Bridge Experience will explain the application process.
Students selected to participate in the HWW Summer Bridge Experience will spend eight weeks contributing to a community organization in the Champaign-Urbana area. After selection, with support from HWW and We CU, participants will connect with an organization, identify an area of need, and design a project to address that need. Students will also have access to mentoring and guidance on using this experience for career exploration, as well as how to communicate their summer experience in resumes and other application documents.
