Southern Voice Talks, “Broadening the Security Perspective: From Under-governed Spaces to Digital Vulnerabilities”

Thursday, 4 December 2025, at 8:00-9:00 AM (CT) via Zoom

Southern Voice Talks is a new initiative by Southern Voice (SV) that provides a space for knowledge exchange and meaningful dialogue among researchers, policymakers, and key global stakeholders. It focuses on key themes and emerging issues shaping the development agenda, aiming to amplify Global South perspectives and elevate their influence within global debates.

The first edition of SV Talks has featured multiple sessions exploring diverse themes from our latest publication, Global South Perspectives (GSP). Following successful sessions on local solutions to global challenges, youth as catalysts of change, and global south agenda on climate, this final session of the first edition will focus on rethinking security challenges through the intersection of governance gaps, digital vulnerabilities, and transnational crime.

This session will highlight two studies from GSP on information pollution in India and non-state armed groups (NSAGs) in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. This session will also draw from the experiences of experts working on security issues.
