The annual Computational Genomics Course will be held virtually June 24-28,2024. Organized by the Mayo Clinic & Illinois Alliance, this one-week intensive course introduces participants to the basics of genomics and the tools and methodologies used to analyze genomic data.
Illinois and Mayo Clinic faculty will lecture and lead hands-on laboratory exercises in genome sequencing and assembly, polymorphism and variant analysis, clinical variant interpretation, and regulatory genomics. New this year are modules on single cell & spatial transcriptomics and AI. The 2024 lab components will include a mix of synchronous and self-paced exercises. View the 2024 schedule. No previous experience or knowledge of computational genomics or coding is required, though participants are encouraged to review tutorials for the software that will be used prior to the start of the course. The course is open to Mayo Clinic and Illinois faculty, staff, and students with applicable fees. Technical support will be provided by the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology and the HPCBio group from the Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Graduate students participating (remotely or in person) in scientific conferences, workshops, or professional development activities related to personalized nutrition, are encouraged to apply for Personalized Nutrition Initiative graduate student travel awards up to $1,000.
