Dr. Tahmahkera will be presenting his work on representations of Native and Indigenous people in the media and how understanding this can lead to a more nuanced understanding of other contemporary issues. Particular attention will be paid to the representations of Native and Indigenous womxn, including what happens when they tell their own stories.
Dr. Dustin Tahmahkera (Comanche), an enrolled citizen of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma, is an interdisciplinary scholar of North American indigeneities, critical media, and sound. He is an Associate Professor in the program for American Indian Studies.
