At a moment when matters of policing are in the foreground, this presentation makes a case for theorizing state violence across contexts of the global South. In place of comparative methodologies, it offers juxtaposition as a means of bringing together the policing of subaltern communities in the US and India. In so doing, it deepens understandings of the racialized, gendered and, especially, sexualized aspects of law and law enforcement.
