A unique element of the European Union’s foreign policy is the creation of civil society networks that connect organizations from EU countries with similar organizations in other countries around the world. The objective of these networks is to strengthen relations between the EU and its international partners through the exchange of policies, ideas and norms. This talk examines the data collection process used to create network maps and assess network properties, and how we can use social network analysis to understand how these networks operate and their impact in foreign policy.
