Three graduate students will present their research at the third Beckman Graduate Student Seminar of the spring 2022 semester: Amanda Weiss, molecular and integrative physiology; Parham Mostame, psychology; and Olawale Salaudeen, computer science. The hybrid event will take place at noon on Wednesday, April 6. Registration is required.

Alysson Muotri, Professor and Director of the Stem Cell Program at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, will lecture on “Human Brain Organogenesis - creating a nervous system outside the womb” April 6, 2021 at 4:00pm on Zoom.

Gabriel Popescu, William L. Everitt Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, will lecture on “Phase imaging with computational specificity (PICS) for biomedical applications” at 4:00pm on Zoom. The lecture is free and open to the public courtesy of the Miniature Brain Machinery Program.

Bruce Damon will speak at the Beckman Institute's virtual Director's Seminar at noon Thursday, Apr. 14. Damon, adjunct professor of Bioengineering, will be discussing "Quantitative MRI: A Tool for Studying Human Physiology and Pathophysiology, Powered by Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics." Hyunjoon Kong, a Robert W. Schaefer Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Pathology as well as a Co-Principal Investigator of the MBM Program, will lecture on “Engineering of Cell Secretome Regulators for Tissue Vascularization and Homeostasis” at 4:00pm in 2269 Beckman Institute and on Zoom. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Our goal is to introduce innovation into the traditional workflow of isolating and characterizing EVs, which requires synergistic efforts from faculty in multiple disciplines. This workshop will showcase several national and international investigators, highlighting new discoveries in the areas of cancer, reproduction, therapy, imaging, and manufacturing.

Dr. Lindahl presents his combined experimental and computational work on a number of prokaryotic and eukaryotic pLGICs, and how his team is trying to combine low-resolution experimental techniques with simulations to model channels under realistic conditions.
