    Due to the recent increase in COVID-19 spread and the anticipated spike next week, we have decided to cancel our WGGP Fall Reception on September 7. We are very disappointed that we will not be able to gather together in person, but safety must be our top concern.

The panelists will offer a global and historical perspective on the struggle by women for abortion rights in the US; feminist mobilization in Latin America; and local activism efforts.

    Timnit Gebru is the founder and executive director of the Distributed Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (DAIR). Prior to that she was fired by Google in December 2020 for raising issues of discrimination in the workplace, where she was serving as co-lead of the Ethical AI research team.
