The Mortenson Center, in collaboration with the New American Welcome Center, The Urbana Free Library and Illinois International- Global Relations will have a Human Library Event as part of the events featured during 2024 National Welcoming week. The event will feature immigrants and international students living in Champaign-Urbana talking about their home countries.

Dr. Caidi will deliver a presentation titled Reading as Belonging: Implications for Library and Information Practice. She examines the extent to which the LIS field equips students and staff with the skills and mindset they need to work meaningfully with communities, to practice an ethics of care towards the most marginalized.

RBML’s new exhibit celebrates the 75th anniversary of Gwendolyn Brooks’s 'Annie Allen' – the poetry collection that won the first Pulitzer Prize by a Black author – and explores the rich history of Black literature’s emergence into the mainstream. On display through May 2025.
