The LeaderShape® Institute™ is a nationally-recognized leadership development retreat. The Illinois Leadership® Center coordinates a special session each year for Illinois undergraduate students, which takes place over winter break at the Allerton Park and Retreat Center in Monticello, IL. Attend this information session to learn more about this opportunity.

Joe Morris is widely recognized as one of the most original and important improvising artists of our time. Morris will offer a lecture and performance on Wed, Oct. 6, and a workshop on Fri Oct. 8 at the Spurlock Museum. His lecture will draw from his book, 'Perpetual Frontier: The Properties of Free Music' (2012). A performance follows.

This fall, Krannert Art Museum, Allerton Park & Retreat Center, and the School of Music at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign have partnered to premiere What Stays Behind, a new site-specific composition by Andrew Rodriguez at the 2021 Art Remastered.

Join artists Kim Curtis, Ja Nelle Davenport-Pleasure, Mohan Tracy, Gary Beaumont, and EKAH in conversation about their installations for the Great ARTdoors 2020/2021. This event will take place at the Spurlock Museum, 7pm, 10/7. It will also be live streamed to our FB page.

On Oct. 7 at 7pm, join a virtual screening of and discussion about thte Egyptian Film, Umm Kulthum, A Voice Like Egypt, the first documentary to bring the musician Umm Kulthum to an American audience. The film puts her life in the context of the epic story of 20th century Egypt, as it shook off Colonialism and confronted Modernity.
