Joe Morris is widely recognized as one of the most original and important improvising artists of our time. Morris will offer a lecture and performance on Wed, Oct. 6, and a workshop on Fri Oct. 8 at the Spurlock Museum. His lecture will draw from his book, 'Perpetual Frontier: The Properties of Free Music' (2012). A performance follows.

This fall, Krannert Art Museum, Allerton Park & Retreat Center, and the School of Music at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign have partnered to premiere What Stays Behind, a new site-specific composition by Andrew Rodriguez at the 2021 Art Remastered.

Join Peach of the Midwest for a free, family-friendly program on Sunday Oct. 10 from 1 to 3 pm. This program will include 2 activities. In the Knight Auditorium, Peach will give tips on karaoke performances and offer competitions among participants. They represent, in part, the lives of enslaved people abducted from Africa, and their descendants who lived through slavery, the Civil War, Reconstruction, the Jim Crow South, the Great Migration, the Civil Rights era on into today's Black Lives Matter movement.
