Proud To Be First Gen Series: Navigating Academic Life and Presentations as a First-Generation Graduate Student

Join us for an interactive workshop for first-gen graduate students on navigating the hidden curriculum of academic life. We will talk about general topics including preparing for and participating in conferences and the culture of awards, as well as research and poster presentations more specifically. The workshop will include an option for online participation.

From Small Town to Big City: First Generation Rural Students Building Community at University of Illinois

Come join the FGSI, speaker Emma Kirby from the Division of Exploratory Studies to learn more about the experiences of rural students on campus, especially those who are first-generation college students, LGBT+, among other underrepresented identities. We will share both a presentation and social time among students to form community and learn more about campus resources.
